Learn More About Liposuction

Liposuction, a fat removal surgery, is performed at our accredited surgical center, Premium Surgical Services Center, as an outpatient procedure. The surgery generally takes 1 – 2 hours to finish, depending on how much fat is being addressed and how many body parts are contoured.

Liposuction can be a surgery performed on its own. However, it is usually paired with other cosmetic surgical procedures, such as a mommy makeover or tummy tuck, for the best cosmetic results.

The ideal candidates for fat removal surgery are men and women who:

Have good overall health
Have excess fat on one or more areas of their body, like the abdomen, thighs, or back, or the appearance of a double chin.
Have tried diet and exercise as a means to lose fat in these areas without success.

*This is NOT a weight loss tool. Liposuction is best for those who are at or near their ideal weight.

Lipo contouring procedures provide the best results when they are used in conjunction with a well-balanced diet along with a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise.

The results following liposuction surgery may last for years. It is unusual for patients to gain weight back in contoured areas unless a significant amount of weight is gained after the procedure. Patients can enjoy a reduced or thinner appearance, greater definition in their problem areas, and a slimmer, more athletic figure. Liposuction can also be part of a fat transfer or Brazilian butt lift to enhance other areas of the body.

This is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia. After surgery, patients recover and are sent home when stable. The procedure is minimally uncomfortable. The discomfort is often described as a combination of sunburn-like sensation and soreness similar to a very hard workout.

Patients are up and around immediately and can do most activities in five to seven days. In most cases, patients resume work and their daily activities one week after the fat removal surgery.

It takes several weeks for patients to recover fully, ambulating and even exercising without discomfort.
