What to Expect During a Breast Lift?

A breast lift is performed under general or local anesthesia in a few hours. Dr. Stile will make an incision based on your particular aesthetic goals. In most cases, however, he’ll choose a lollipop incision, which is a combination of a periareolar incision and vertical incision, and an inverted-T incision, which is a lollipop incision that continues along the fold of the breast.

If you desire greater fullness and projection as well, an implant can help you with this along with your breast lift procedure.

After a breast lift, you’ll enjoy perkier breasts that will last for years to come. Just keep in mind that they will still continue to go through the natural process of aging over time. They’ll still look better than they would if you had never undergone a breast lift. A second breast lift is an option if you believe it’s necessary over time, but typically patients are satisfied with their first breast results for years to come.

Breast Lift Recovery

Most patients report the breast lift recovery process to be easier than expected. Immediately following the procedure, you’ll experience some bruising and swelling for a few weeks. There may also be some soreness near your incisions. In addition, your nipples, areola, or breast skin may feel numb for about six weeks or so.

Dr. Stile will ask that you sleep on your side or back as doing so will keep the pressure of your breasts and ensure an optimal outcome for your results. He’ll also recommend you refrain from lifting or bending and stick to a soft support bra for at least two weeks. A silicone gel or tape may be suggested as well to speed up the healing process.

You can expect to take at least five days off from work and childcare responsibilities. You’ll likely be able to resume your daily activities after one week of recovery.
