Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift

Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift

A facelift and neck lift combination can help you look up to 15 years younger! The Facelift + Neck Lift combo ranks among our most sought-after procedures at Stile Aesthetics. Our patients enjoy amazing results that last 8 to 15 years.

Getting both procedures done together saves you money and recovery time. The entire process takes just one 4-6 hour surgery instead of two separate operations. On top of that, a combined facelift and neck lift creates a balanced look between your face and neck. Your results will show better facial harmony and look completely natural.

Our goal is to deliver results that enhance your natural beauty and boost your confidence. Recovery takes two weeks to three months, but you’ll need to go through it just once. Facelift pricing can vary based on the facelift technique used and your individual goals. Dr. Stile will provide a personalized cost estimate during your consultation for facial plastic surgery. Combining it with a neck lift helps you save money on anesthesia and operating room fees.

Let us walk you through the differences between these procedures, the benefits of combining them, and what to expect during surgery and recovery. You’ll learn if this transformative procedure matches your goals.

What is the difference between a facelift and a neck lift?

The difference between a facelift and neck lift helps you choose the right approach to achieve your facial rejuvenation goals. In “Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift,” we explore these procedures both individually and together. Many patients at Stile Aesthetics aren’t sure which procedure best addresses their concerns.

Your face and neck work like a continuous canvas. These areas complement each other perfectly, though we can treat them separately. The key distinction? A facelift focuses on the lower two-thirds of your face, while a neck lift targets the area below your chin and above your collarbone.

How does facelift surgery work?

A full facelift, medically called rhytidectomy, removes excess facial fat, tightens facial muscles, and reshapes facial skin to create a smoother appearance. The procedure helps you look more youthful by improving:

  • Midface sagging and deep nasolabial folds (lines from nose to mouth)
  • Jowls along the jawline
  • Loose skin and wrinkles in the lower face

Dr. Stile makes incisions that start in the hairline at the temples, continue around the ear, and end in the lower scalp during the surgery. The skin separates from underlying fat and muscle, excess fat is removed, and the supporting facial layers tighten. The skin then drapes back and the excess is removed.

Dr. Stile’s unique version of the deep plane facelift procedure allows continuous elevation, tightening, and rejuvenation throughout the face and neck.

What does a neck lift address?

A neck lift, or platysmaplasty, creates a smoother, slimmer neck profile. Of course, this surgical procedure removes excess skin and fat while improving age-related wrinkling and creasing.

Platysmaplasty solve these common issues:

  1. Turkey neck or loose, sagging skin beneath the chin
  2. Double chin from excess fat accumulation
  3. Vertical neck bands (platysmal bands)
  4. Wrinkles and creases on the neck

The facelift surgeon tightens the platysma muscle in front of the neck during a necklift. This sometimes calls for corset platysmaplasty, where muscles adjust back toward the hairline and excess skin is removed. Liposuction might help contour the fat layer under your chin.

We use a small incision, which typically starts in front of the ear lobe, wraps around behind the ear, and ends in the posterior hair. Some cases need a second incision under the chin to improve neck definition.

Does a neck lift include a facelift?

A neck lift doesn’t automatically include a traditional facelift, though they often happen together. A neck lift alone won’t improve jowls, lines around the mouth, or sagging cheeks. A facelift without a neck lift might leave you with an unbalanced appearance – a younger face but an older-looking neck.

Dr. Stile recommends combining these procedures because:

  • The face and neck’s skin, muscles, and fascia connect naturally
  • The combination creates balanced, consistent results
  • You get better access to deep structures for detailed improvement

Patients used to return for a neck lift after their facelift, unhappy with the contrast between their rejuvenated face and aging neck. Modern practice now combines these procedures routinely.

Younger patients with good facial skin elasticity but loose neck skin might only need a neck lift. Most neck lifts pair with a lower facelift today to achieve better aesthetic and functional improvements.

Patients showing moderate to severe signs of aging benefit most from the combination. This approach delivers detailed rejuvenation from cheekbones to collarbone, creating a balanced, youthful look that neither procedure achieves alone.

Why should you consider combining a facelift and neck lift?

A facelift and neck lift work best when done together. Our piece “Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift” at DrStile.com shows how these two procedures create better results than either one alone. Let me explain why this combination has become the gold standard in facial appearance rejuvenation.

The beauty industry has moved toward combining these procedures in the last few years. Many patients used to come back for a neck lift after their facelift because they weren’t happy with their look. Now, doctors recommend doing both procedures at once to get the best outcome.

What are the benefits of combining facelift and neck lift?

This powerful combination brings amazing results. You’ll get a more balanced, natural-looking, youthful appearance. Both areas get refreshed at once, which creates an uninterrupted transition from face to neck. This prevents that odd mismatch where your face looks younger than your neck.

The financial benefits make sense, too! One combined surgery means you pay just one:

  • Operating room fee
  • Anesthesia fee
  • Recovery facility fee

You can save thousands of dollars compared to separate surgeries. Your actual savings will depend on your surgeon’s fees and location.

One recovery period instead of two makes life easier. The healing time stays at 2-4 weeks, the same as a single facelift. Separate plastic surgery procedures would double your downtime and keep you away from work longer.

Your surgeon can access deep structures in both your face and neck during a combined procedure. This allows for complete techniques and better rejuvenation.

The results last longer, too. Your lower face and neck’s skin and muscles connect naturally. Working on both areas at once allows for precise tissue repositioning, which creates more stable, lasting results. Your refreshed look should last 8-15 years.

Is combining a facelift and neck lift safe?

Absolutely! These procedures use the same incision sites, making them naturally compatible. One anesthesia session actually reduces your overall risk compared to two separate surgeries.

Every surgery has some risk, but a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience can minimize complications. At Stile Aesthetics, we put safety first while creating beautiful results.

This dual approach tackles aging at multiple levels by tightening and repositioning tissues. The improved structural support helps maintain your younger look for years.

Why not do them separately?

Separate procedures create several problems. Most patients don’t need to space them out. Unless medical reasons say otherwise, there’s no benefit to going through two surgeries.

A facelift alone can make your neck look worse by comparison. Sagging neck skin becomes more noticeable. Your jowls might look even more pronounced after just a facelift.

Separate surgeries mean more recovery time away from your normal routine. You’ll need:

  • Extra time off work
  • More time dealing with discomfort
  • Additional medications
  • More follow-up appointments

Money matters, but the physical toll of two recoveries instead of one is huge. There’s no need to go through that twice.

This combination has become standard practice, and with good reason, too. Your face and neck age together, so treating them together creates the most balanced result. Unless your neck has no excess skin (which rarely happens), combining treatments gives you the best improvement and highest satisfaction.

That’s why at Stile Aesthetics, we usually recommend treating both areas together to achieve natural and balanced facial rejuvenation.

What facial concerns can a combined procedure fix?

A facelift and neck lift combination tackles multiple facial concerns simultaneously. Many patients at Stile Aesthetics ask about the specific problems this powerful duo can fix in our “Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift” piece. The results surpass what either procedure could achieve alone.

These procedures work together to treat the lower face and neck as one aesthetic unit. Your facial structures connect naturally, so this approach makes perfect anatomical sense. Let’s look at the specific issues this combination resolves.

Can it help with jowls and sagging skin?

The combined approach works exceptionally well for jowls and sagging skin. Our lower cheek muscles weaken, and skin loses elasticity as we age. Gravity pulls everything down and creates bags that soften the jawline. People often look older than they feel because of these jowls.

A combined procedure effectively corrects:

  • Sagging cheeks that have fallen from their youthful position
  • Jowls and along the jawline that blur your facial contours
  • Marionette lines (wrinkles at the corners of your mouth)
  • Nasolabial folds (creases extending from your nose to mouth corners)
  • Other wrinkles around the mouth area

Dr. Stile lifts and tightens the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) during surgery. This vital tissue layer extends toward the mouth’s corner, which significantly reduces jowling along the jawline.

Does it improve jawline and neck definition?

The combined procedure dramatically enhances jawline and neck definition. Patients often feel frustrated by poorly defined jawlines or wrinkled, saggy necks. These features make people appear older and heavier than they are.

Your jawline becomes sharper and better defined with a combined facelift and neck lift. The procedure also improves neck and chin angles, creating a more youthful profile. The transformation happens through:

  • Tightening underlying muscles for structural support
  • Removing and redistributing excess fatty deposits
  • Eliminating sagging skin that blurs the jaw-neck transition
  • Lifting upper neck muscles into an enhanced esthetic position
  • Revealing a more visible jawline and chin

The surgery reshapes your entire lower facial profile by treating both areas at once. This complete approach creates proportionate facial rejuvenation results that look natural rather than “operated on.”

Can it eliminate vertical neck bands or turkey neck?

These combined procedures excel at treating vertical neck bands (platysmal bands) and eliminate turkey neck. These bands show up when the platysma muscle in the neck separates into visible cords.

Dr. Stile helps patients eliminate:

  • Vertical muscle bands beneath the chin
  • “Turkey neck” or loose, sagging skin
  • Double chin from excess fat deposits
  • Horizontal creases and wrinkles

The surgical technique focuses on tightening the platysma muscle. Dr. Stile accesses and tightens this muscle, sometimes using platysmaplasty or anterior plication. The separated muscle bands come together in the midline, which creates a smoother, more youthful neck contour.

Expert surgeons know that treating both the face and neck produces superior results. Fixing just one area might make the untreated region look worse by comparison. To cite an instance, patients choosing a facelift without a neck lift might notice more imperfections in their untouched neck area.

The combined approach delivers complete facial rejuvenation from cheekbones to collarbone. This thorough treatment prevents an unbalanced appearance where your face looks younger but your neck shows loose skin.

Dr. Stile focuses on creating natural-looking, harmonious results. We help you achieve the refreshed, confident appearance you want by addressing multiple facial concerns in one procedure.

What happens during a combined facelift and neck lift surgery?

The surgical process for facelift and neck lift blends several precise techniques in our Facelift + Neck Lift procedures at Stile Aesthetics. Patients often ask what happens during this surgery. Let me guide you through the whole ordeal.

What techniques are used in the procedure?

Your surgeon will use general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. This helps you stay comfortable during surgery. At Stile Aesthetics, we typically use general anesthesia for our procedures, but the type of anesthesia can vary based on the procedure and the patient’s preferences.

The surgeon makes specific incisions after proper sedation:

  • The facelift incisions begin in your temple’s hairline, extend down around your ears’ front, and finish behind your ears in the lower scalp
  • Neck lift incisions run from the earlobe’s front, around the ear, into the lower scalp, with a small extra cut under the chin

The surgeon then lifts the skin and the thin fatty tissue layer from deeper facial structures. These steps follow:

  1. The surgeon repositions and tightens deeper facial tissues and muscles
  2. Deeper fatty and muscle tissues get lifted and secured with sutures
  3. Face and neck fat gets sculpted, removed, or redistributed
  4. Loose neck muscles become tighter, particularly at the midline, to define your neck
  5. Skin gets redraped over these new contours
  6. Extra skin gets removed, and incisions are closed with sutures

Your surgeon carefully creates a natural, younger look without an artificial “wind-blown” appearance. Modern surgeons see the face and neck as one aesthetic unit.

How long does the surgery take?

A combined facelift and neck lift usually takes 3 to 6 hours. Some sources say it might take 2.5 to 4.5 hours. Additional cosmetic procedures like eyelid surgery or skin resurfacing need extra time.

Dr. Stile’s combined surgeries typically last 4 to 6 hours. Time varies based on:

  • Technique selection
  • Your anatomy
  • Additional procedures
  • Required correction extent

Is a deep plane facelift and neck lift better?

Experts now rate the deep plane technique as superior for both procedures. This method works on deeper facial tissues, including muscles and fascia, unlike traditional approaches that focus on surface layers.

Deep plane technique benefits include:

  • Results last up to a decade or longer
  • Natural looks without the typical “pulled” appearance of traditional methods
  • Less scarring with incisions mainly near the ear
  • Detailed rejuvenation that targets structural and surface issues

Deep plane facelift and neck lift procedures work well together. This approach gives consistent results between your face and neck that last for years.

This combination creates dramatic yet natural results for patients concerned about face and neck aging. The technique maintains natural contours while fixing why sagging happens.

Swelling and bruising after surgery usually improve within two weeks. Any tightness you feel gradually eases as swelling goes down.

What is the recovery timeline for facelift and neck lift?

Recovery after a facelift and neck lift follows clear milestones at Stile Aesthetics. Our “Combining Facelift + Neck Lift” approach helps patients through each recovery step. Here’s what you can expect during healing.

What to expect after facelift and neck lift?

Your face and neck will show some swelling and bruising following surgery. This happens normally. The area will feel tight and sore, but basic pain medications should keep you comfortable.

The first few days challenge patients the most. The effects of anesthesia might make you drowsy and tired. You’ll need support from family or friends. Pain medication helps manage any discomfort during this period.

Swelling reaches its peak between days 5-7 after surgery. The swelling improves slowly over several weeks. Most patients notice visible changes by 4-6 weeks. The final facelift results appear after 3-6 months.

The skin around your cheeks and ears might feel numb temporarily. This sensation usually gets better within weeks or months. Patients often experience:

  • Tightness in the face
  • Mild tingling sensations
  • Occasional numbness
  • Feeling of stiffness

These symptoms show normal healing progress. Your surgeon will give you specific aftercare instructions about:

  • Sleeping with your head elevated to reduce swelling
  • Avoiding strenuous activities
  • Following a proper skincare routine

How long is downtime?

Most patients need 2-3 weeks of downtime after surgery. They usually stay home and limit their social activities during this time.

The first week needs complete rest. Patients should avoid any hard movements and focus on healing. Short walks help promote blood circulation starting around day 2-3.

Bruising and swelling start decreasing noticeably by the second week. Many patients begin feeling more like themselves. Daily improvements continue, though some swelling might remain.

The healing process typically follows this timeline:

  • Days 1-3: Maximum rest period with peak discomfort
  • Days 4-6: Switch from prescription to over-the-counter pain medication
  • Days 7-10: Swelling decreases, movement becomes easier
  • Days 10-14: Many patients return to social activities

Patients feel ready to go out wearing makeup about 2 weeks after surgery. The final results take 6-9 months as tissues heal completely.

When can you return to work or exercise?

Your job type determines when you can return to work. Desk job workers usually return 10-14 days after surgery. Physical jobs require longer recovery periods.

Patients who combine facelift with other procedures like eyelid surgery might need three weeks before returning to work.

Exercise follows a specific timeline:

  • Weeks 1-3: Light walking only to help circulation
  • Weeks 2-4: Gradually increase walking pace, avoid hard activities
  • Weeks 4-6: Start light workouts with doctor’s approval
  • After 6 weeks: Resume normal exercise routine

Patients should avoid lifting anything over 10 pounds for several weeks. Keeping heart rate below 100 beats per minute matters during early recovery.

Each patient heals differently. Dr. Stile offers tailored guidance based on your specific surgery and healing progress. Your surgeon approves specific activities as you recover.

Taking time to heal and following recovery instructions creates better results. Quick returns to activities can affect your healing and the lasting quality of your refreshed look.

How long do facelift and neck lift results last?

Dr. Stile’s “Combining Facelift + Neck Lift” approach delivers remarkable results lasting 8-15 years for most patients. Your investment rewards you with almost a decade of looking more youthful. The surgery turns back time, but aging continues naturally.

Do results look natural over time?

The results maintain their natural appearance as you age. You’ll continue to age after surgery, but look younger than you would without the procedure. The deep plane technique creates lasting results that avoid the “pulled” look often associated with older methods.

Many new patients worry about appearing “done” or “wind-blown.” Modern surgical techniques create harmony between your face and neck for effortless, cohesive rejuvenation. Your appearance settles into a refreshed, natural-looking version of yourself as swelling subsides over several months.

Can lifestyle affect longevity?

Without a doubt, daily habits substantially affect how long your results last. These factors play a crucial role:

  • Smoking: Harms skin elasticity and reduces blood flow, which shortens the lifespan of your results
  • Sun exposure: UV rays damage collagen and elastin, which speeds up aging even after surgery
  • Weight fluctuations: Major weight changes stretch skin and change facial contours
  • Diet and hydration: Balanced nutrition rich in antioxidants and proper hydration keep skin elastic

Stile Aesthetics patients who embrace healthy lifestyle choices enjoy their refreshed appearance longer. We suggest limiting alcohol, managing stress levels, and staying active to protect your investment.

What maintenance is needed?

The right maintenance helps your facelift and neck lift results last beyond expectations. Quality skincare products with retinoids, peptides, and antioxidants help preserve skin elasticity. Daily SPF 30 or higher sunscreen becomes vital.

Non-surgical treatments can boost and extend your results:

  • Botox and dermal fillers for fine lines
  • Laser or radiofrequency treatments to boost collagen
  • Microneedling and PRP therapy for skin regeneration

Regular follow-up appointments with your surgeon matter most. Periodic maintenance treatments help preserve results. A consistent skincare routine maintains your rejuvenated appearance.

Your face will age naturally from a more youthful starting point. Proper care and maintenance let you enjoy your refreshed appearance for years ahead.

Who is a good candidate for a facelift and neck lift combo?

Want to know if you’re right for a facelift and neck lift? Our piece “Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift” at DrStile.com helps patients learn about this powerful combination. Let’s see what makes someone perfect for these procedures.

Great candidates include men and women who have drooping skin on their face and neck, along with wrinkles on their upper, mid, or lower face. Your general health should be good, and you shouldn’t use tobacco products. Each person brings unique characteristics, which makes a consultation essential.

What is the best age for facelift and neck lift?

People typically get these procedures in their 40s, though many patients are in their 60s and 70s. We’ve found at Stile Aesthetics that your skin’s condition matters more than your age.

Doctors now know that treating aging signs earlier (40s-50s) usually creates more natural-looking results. Your unique anatomy and genetics determine the ideal timing more than your age.

Are there health conditions that disqualify you?

These medical conditions might make surgery unsafe:

  • Blood-thinning medications or supplements that affect clotting
  • Poorly controlled diabetes or high blood pressure
  • Smoking (increases the risk of poor healing)
  • History of repeated weight gain and loss
  • High body mass index (BMI) above 30
  • Current pregnancy
  • Previous surgical complications

Your lifestyle significantly affects the outcome. Extra weight can cause healing problems. Dr. Stile will review your health thoroughly during your consultation.

How do you know if you need both procedures?

You probably need both procedures when you see:

  • Sagging skin or jowls in the lower face
  • Visible aging signs in and around the neck, like excess skin or banding
  • No clear difference between the jawline, chin, and neck
  • Signs of facial aging

Getting just one procedure usually creates an unbalanced appearance. A face-only correction might make your neck look older. Similarly, fixing only the neck can create a “bobblehead appearance”.

The team at Stile Aesthetics reviews your facial structure carefully to determine if you need both procedures. Most patients get better results from the combined approach, which creates a natural, harmonious look.

How do you choose the right surgeon for your procedure?

A qualified surgeon’s expertise will determine the success of your facelift and neck lift. Our team at Stile Aesthetics believes your choice of surgeon impacts your results more than almost any other factor, as we explain in “Facelift & Neck Lift | Facial Plastic Surgery & Face Lift”

What should you look for in before-and-after results?

These key elements deserve attention when reviewing before-and-after photos:

  • Definition of the cheek fat pad – Watch for proper upward and lateral repositioning
  • Jawline definition – Notice clear, well-defined jawline contours
  • Natural skin draping – Skin should appear natural without stretching or tightness
  • Hidden scars – Quality results reveal minimal visible scarring

The best results showcase natural improvements rather than an “operated on” look. Skilled surgeons create subtle changes that boost your features while preserving your unique appearance.

Where to get facelift and neck lift done together in Las Vegas?

Several options exist in Las Vegas for combined facelift and neck lift procedures. The American Board of Plastic Surgery certification should top your checklist. This certification proves your surgeon completed six years of surgical training and passed detailed exams.

Conclusion

A Facelift + Neck Lift combo is a great way to reverse facial aging signs. Our patients at Stile Aesthetics achieve a refreshed appearance that lasts 8-15 years with a single surgery. This combined approach helps you save money and cuts your recovery time in half compared to doing them separately.

Your face and neck age as a unit, so treating them together makes sense. A separate treatment might leave you with a younger face but an aging neck. The natural results from this combined procedure create better harmony across your facial features.

Social activities can resume after 2-3 weeks of recovery. Your final results will show up about 3-6 months after the surgery. Taking time to heal properly rewards you with years of looking younger.

Post-surgery lifestyle choices play a big role. Staying away from smoking, protecting yourself from sun damage, and sticking to a good skincare routine will make your results last longer. Regular maintenance treatments can help you look youthful even longer.

Good candidates should have loose skin on both the face and the neck while being in good health. Dr. Stile’s expertise in these procedures makes him an excellent choice. Your surgeon’s skill affects your results more than almost anything else.

This combination doesn’t just smooth out wrinkles—it brings back confidence. Many patients tell us their outer appearance finally matches how young they feel inside. A facelift and neck lift together might be exactly what you need to reach your facial rejuvenation goals.
