Neck Lift Surgery Las Vegas

Why Consider a Neck Lift?

The skin on a person’s hands and neck are the first things that give away their age. Loose or sagging neck skin, jowls, fullness under the chin, and the progressive development of neck bands can make both male and female patients look older than they actually are. Hanging skin below the chin can also cause an unflattering “turkey-neck” appearance. Neckbands (or platysmal bands) are an age-related condition that appears when the platysma muscles become cord-like.

This causes the appearance of stripes or “banding” across the front of the neck. Neckbands are the result of a combination of sagging neck skin with an increased prominence and separation of these platysma muscles. A neck lift tightens sagging neck muscles and skin to accentuate the jawline for a slimmer profile. It also corrects jowls and reduces the “turkey neck” appearance.

How is a Neck Lift Performed?

When there’s an abundance of fat below the chin or in the submental area:

Liposuction will be the first step of the surgery to remove this excess fat

The underlying neck muscles will then be pulled tight. Then, the skin will be trimmed

The remaining skin will be re-draped for a tighter, smoother appearance

Stitches, or sutures, are placed deep in the neck muscular system. Dr. Stile may also place drains in the surgical site to minimize swelling. The entire surgery typically lasts four hours.

Learn More About Neck Lifts

Neck lift surgery is an outpatient procedure performed at our accredited surgical facility, the Premium Surgical Services Center. The patient will be given general anesthesia for this procedure. Dr. Stile will start off by making an incision under the chin, in front of and behind the patient’s ears.

Liposuction is also used and is often part of a neck lift procedure to enhance contours and final results. Board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank L. Stile can perform neck lift surgery as a single procedure or can combine it with other cosmetic procedures such as a facelift. Call Stile Aesthetics in Las Vegas, NV, today to learn more about how a neck lift can help you achieve the look you desire.

The ideal candidates for a neck lift:

  • Have loose skin in the area caused by weight loss, aging, or genetics.
  • Have lines and wrinkles in the neck area.
  • Are any age from late 20s-70+.
  • Desire a sleeker, more defined, and slimmer profile.
  • Desire a long-term solution to changes seen in the aging neck.
  • Desire a natural look.

Improvements will be immediately noted. After a few months, a patient should be able to see the final results of the surgery with a tighter, smoother, more contoured neck. There should be very minimal scarring since the incisions were closed with precision and placed in discrete areas.

Neck lift surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our accredited surgical facility, where the patient is under general anesthesia. After a neck lift, a dressing will be placed over the surgical site, and it will be replaced during the initial follow-up visit. Patients also wear a support garment for two to four weeks. It’s normal to experience some pain and discomfort, which can be alleviated with medication prescribed by the surgeon.

Following a neck lift surgery, a patient commonly experiences some amount of bruising and swelling in the neck area. It’s also common for patients to have a sensation of tightness and pulling and even some numbness, which is a result of the neck adjusting to the new position. Typically, patients are able to return to their normal routine, such as work, in around seven to ten days.
