Breast Reduction Las Vegas

Why Consider Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty surgery is a procedure that removes fatty breast tissue, glandular tissue, and skin from large pendulous (sagging) breasts. This makes breasts smaller and firmer. Breast reduction surgery will also restore sagging breasts to a more youthful and lifted position on the chest wall. Additionally, the areola will be reduced in size and repositioned higher on the breast.

Women who have large breasts (macromastia) may experience a variety of physical symptoms (symptomatic macromastia). The physical symptoms result from the weight and size of their breasts. These may include:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Headaches
  • Skin irritation and breakdown on the underside of the breasts

Poor exercise tolerance, as well as limited clothing options, are also often cited as factors motivating patients to surgery.

How is Breast Reduction Performed?

Younger patients may desire breast reduction surgery to help reduce psycho-social stressors that may result from either unwanted attention or feeling overly self-conscious about the appearance of their breasts.

Breast reduction is performed to relieve these symptoms and improve overall appearance. However, at Stile Aesthetics in Las Vegas, NV, board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank L. Stile will develop a treatment plan that is unique to you and your specific needs. Breast reduction often includes a breast lift to correct sagging.

Learn More About Breast Reduction

Using state-of-the-art surgical techniques that limit the risks of surgery, Dr. Stile will skillfully reduce excess skin and excise tissue to reshape the breast. During reduction mammaplasty, it is common to use the following technique and its corresponding incisions.

  • An incision around the areola.
  • A vertical incision from the bottom of the areola to the breast line (infra-mammary fold).
  • A horizontal incision along the length of the infra-mammary fold.

When you have any of the symptoms previously mentioned because of your large breast size, the quality of your life is affected. Women with large breasts may experience these challenges on a daily basis.

Women cannot correct these issues with diet and exercise alone. If you experience any of the following symptoms from large, heavy breasts, you may be an ideal candidate for breast reduction surgery:

  • Irritation and rashes on the skin of the underside of your breasts.
  • Diet and exercise have unsuccessfully decreased the size of your breasts.
  • Breasts that are disproportionately large compared to your body.
  • The weight of your breasts causes pain in the neck, shoulders, and back.
  • Headaches
  • Bra strap grooving of the shoulders.
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Limitations on activity or exercise tolerance because of large breast size.
  • Psycho-social stressors that may result from either unwanted attention or feeling overly self-conscious about the size and appearance of your breasts.
  • Difficulty fitting into clothing
  • Poor posture.

Breast reduction surgery dramatically improves the quality of our patients’ lives. The resulting smaller breasts may make everyday activities easier. Patients enjoy smaller, lifted, more proportional breasts and relief of their symptoms.

After a 3-4-hour breast reduction surgery, you will wake up in recovery and feel immediately lighter in the chest area. You will be instructed on how to properly care for your incisions to limit scarring. After being sent home in a surgical garment and/or sports bra, it is advised that you take it easy for the first few weeks after the surgery.

Expect to feel less sensation in your nipples, as they can take up to a year to recover and resume sensitivity. It is suggested that breast reduction patients not return to work for 12-14 days and wait 4-6 weeks before resuming physical activities.
