Rhinoplasty, also known as a “nose surgery or a nose job,” is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries performed by Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank L. Stile at Stile Aesthetics in Las Vegas, NV. Cosmetic nose job surgery is a procedure that is frequently performed to produce desired changes in the appearance and function of the nose.
It also reshapes the nose in order to create a more pleasing look and form. However, the overall goal is to achieve facial harmony by bringing the nose into better proportion with existing facial features. In women, a more refined and delicate nose is the goal.
In male patients, requests usually include reducing the size of the nose or correcting the contour of an overly arched nasal bridge while maintaining the masculine feature. Cosmetic nose surgery usually reduces the size of the nose changes the shape and position of the tip, and can narrow the width of the nostrils.
An outpatient procedure, rhinoplasty is performed while a patient is under general anesthesia at our accredited surgical facility. Depending on the technique used and the patient’s unique needs, surgery can last 2 – 4 hours. There are two types of nose surgery procedures: open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty.
Open rhinoplasty, or external rhinoplasty, involves Dr. Stile making incisions on the inside of the nostrils and a small incision on the underside of the nose between the nostrils to give him better access to the lower, middle and upper part of the nose. Dr. Stile can then manipulate the soft tissue, skin, cartilage and bone as needed. In addition, the placement of the incisions allows for minimal scarring. Open rhinoplasty is used for complete access and more exposure in complex nose surgeries.
During a closed rhinoplasty or endonasal rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside of the nostrils only. This technique is usually used for less complex surgeries, such as when the nose already has a good shape and isn’t considered too wide or too long, only needing smaller changes. Because of the placement of the incisions, there will be no visible scarring.

The ideal candidates for rhinoplasty:
Your nose will look more like the described result, or the potential version of your nose demonstrated using our VectraTM imaging system. Your nose will be swollen. The amount of swelling is highly variable. Your result will continue to mature over time. Your nose will continue to evolve into its surgically enhanced shape for months after surgery. The final result should be realized within one year with a beautifully shaped, positioned, and proportionate nose.
Rhinoplasty or nose surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our accredited surgical facility, where the patient is under general anesthesia. Patients are discharged home when stable. After surgery, a patient’s nose will be stabilized with a splint made of moldable plastic. Medicated internal packing may also be used to support your result further.
A follow-up appointment will be scheduled on the 4th or 5th day following surgery to remove the internal nasal packing. The splint or cast will be removed on the seventh postoperative day. Patients may be directed to continue taping their noses after week one. Patients should expect some discomfort, bruising, and swelling after surgery that should subside within a few weeks.
