Facelift Overview
As you age, the wrinkles on your face and neck become more prominent. Jowls also form, the smile lines (nasolabial folds) deepen, and you also notice the appearance of marionette lines.
A facelift is a surgical procedure that tightens up the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) skin layer. The cosmetic treatment also repositions neck muscles and removes excess skin on the face and neck.
The removal or repositioning of facial fat will also restore lost volume to certain areas of your face. Dr. Stile performs facelift (rhytidectomy) procedures as an outpatient treatment at the Stile Aesthetics cosmetic surgery center.
How Long Will My Results Last?
Facelifts offer long-lasting results to all patients. On average, According to the Mayo Clinic, you can expect the results of your facelift to last around ten years. The reason they don’t provide permanent results is due to the aging process.
As your skin ages, your skin may begin to droop again due to diminishing collagen and elastin levels. Thankfully, it’s possible to have a second facelift or other cosmetic treatments to slow down those further effects of aging on the skin.
For example, Dr. Stile may recommend non-surgical treatments such as dermal fillers or microdermabrasion to address concerns like wrinkles and fine lines.
