Breast augmentation can help many women feel more secure in their appearance. However, sometimes you may need a breast revision surgery to improve the results from a breast augmentation. 

WHAT IS BREAST AUGMENTATION REVISION SURGERY? 

Breast augmentation revision surgery or breast revision surgery is similar to traditional breast augmentation. The difference between breast augmentation and a revision is that Dr. Stile replaces an existing implant or removes it altogether. Sometimes breast revision surgery is reconstructive, depending on if you have scar tissue or other conditions to correct, such as synmastia, double bubble, or a breast implant rupture. 

Commonly, Dr. Stiles can perform a breast lift to tighten the extra skin if you choose to have breast revision surgery.

HOW SOON AFTER A BREAST AUGMENTATION CAN I GET A REVISION? 

We recommend waiting three months to a year before getting breast augmentation revision surgery. Breast implants need time to “drop” and to form in shape fully. You also need to be recovered from your initial breast augmentation before Dr. Stile can perform breast revision surgery. 

It is also common for both breasts to heal differently after having breast augmentation. Sometimes one breast can look different until the “drop” happens. If you wait until you see improvement, it can help you make a better decision about seeking breast revision. 

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE FROM BREAST AUGMENTATION REVISION SURGERY? 

To ensure the best possible healing after breast augmentation revision surgery, we will go over how the recovery process is similar to your initial breast augmentation. Taking the best care of the surgical incisions can reduce the recurrence of any breast implant concerns that you had before. There will be noticeable bruising and swelling for the first couple of weeks. You should limit strenuous activities such as heavy lifting and exercise until you are fully recovered, usually in four to six weeks.
