Generally, you need to replace breast implants every 10-20 years. Even before their “expiration date,” implants can change with your body, and you may feel dissatisfied with how they appear. But what is a breast revision?
What Is A Breast Revision?
Board-certified cosmetic surgeon Dr. Frank L. Stile offers breast revision surgery to remove and replace implants. The procedure is primarily similar to breast augmentation, which Dr. Stile also performs. A new implant can improve the appearance of the breasts, along with a breast lift if the patient desires.
Capsulotomies
Sometimes, scar tissue can form around the breast implant. This is called capsular contracture, and a thickened implant capsule causes it. Breast revision can be performed with a capsulotomy, in which Dr. Stile removes the scar tissue and treats both the patient and the breast implant pocket antibiotics. He then inserts the replacement implants into the breasts.
